Bud Johnson (Howard) is a retired periodontist. He began singing when he was 8, offering a soprano voice to a church choir. Throughout high school and college, he confined his musical activities to band. When Bud began graduate school at the University of Kansas, he restarted his singing career, studying voice with Miriam Steward Hamilton Green, a member of the music faculty. Vocal music took a respite during dental school, but Bud performed in “The Mikado” while serving as a dentist in the Army in Germany.
Bud has performed with the Norman Community Choral Society, Windsong Chamber Choir, and Musica Sacra, the group which “morphed” into Bella Voce. He has studied voice with Drs. Dwight Uphaus, Kerry Barnett, and Randall Rushing. Without exception, he is the elder member of the choir.
